We had the pleasure of interviewing Islamic Scholars, Sunni and Shia, to discuss the Fiqh (Islamic Rulings) of Halal Food!
Featuring Imam Tahir Anwar, Maulana Amin Rastani, and Imam Dawood Yasin, we asked them a lot of the “Hot Topic” questions that people have today such as Hand v. Machine Slaughter, Cooking with Alcohol, Eating at Restaurants which serve Alcohol, etc. etc.
This Episode is so big we had to split it into 2 parts! Here is Part 1. Enjoy!
Jazakallahu Khairan!
It’s so enlightening to learn about what we consume , how and clarifying the terminology … Alhamdullilah
This was a very informative presentation. I was not aware of the different situations of “halal” and “non-halal.” In trying circumstances, such as refugee camps, etc. how can you justify eating of food that is not permissible for consumption by your religious convictions?
In Islamic Religious Law there are almost always exceptions when it comes to extreme conditions or situations which people may find themselves in such as under war, occupation, refugee camp, famine, etc. It is allowed for a Muslim to eat non-Halal meat, including pork, if that is the only type of meat available and it’s a life or death situation. May Allah (God) protect us all and our families from these type of calamities. Ameen.
